How it is measured

|N–Prn| ÷ |G–Me|

  • N Nasion — The deepest point of the dip between the forehead and the bridge of the nose.
  • Prn Pronasale (nose tip) — The most forward point of the nasal tip.
  • G Glabella — The most forward point of the forehead, on the midline between the eyebrows.
  • Me Menton — The lowest point of the chin.

Ideal range and tiers

Each value falls into a tier (T1 = ideal). Comfortably inside T1 the rating is 10, easing to 9.5 at the edges of the ideal range; beyond it the rating falls with the deviation — fastest in the first tiers outside the ideal — down to 0 at the far end of the worst tier.

TierRangeRating
T1 Ideal0.37–0.439.5–10
T2 Near ideal0.32–0.37 or 0.43–0.485.8–9.5
T3 Moderate deviation0.26–0.32 or 0.48–0.542.8–5.8
T4 Significant deviation< 0.26 or > 0.540–2.8
